How to drill with a printed sheet

Ten minutes, one topic, one worksheet: the method behind the printables and why paper still beats a screen for this.

Notes

A screen will happily re-test you on something you half-know. A sheet of paper does one thing: it asks, and then you find out. Here is how to use the worksheets on this page so ten drills a day actually turn into grammar you keep.

1. Pick one topic, not three

Every worksheet covers exactly one thing — perfect compus, the accusative prepositions, animals — with ten drills on it. One topic per sitting is the whole point: you are building one groove, not scattering attention across the course.

2. Answer before you look

Print the sheet, then fold or cover the answer key at the bottom. Write your answers first. Reading the answer feels productive and teaches almost nothing; being asked is what fixes a word. This is the same rule the app runs on, and it works better on paper because the key cannot hover one tap away.

3. Mark it honestly, keep the misses

Open the key and mark in red. Wrong answers are the session — they are the four you will drill again tomorrow. Circle them, tear the sheet off if you like: the pile of marked sheets is the only progress bar that matters.

4. Same sheet, one week later

Put the marked sheet aside and print it again a week on, or just re-read your red circle and answer those four from memory. Repetition spaced like this is what moves a word from “I have seen it” to “I can use it”. Nothing in this method is clever; it is only done consistently.

The word lists work the same way

The vocabulary and phrase sets on this page follow the identical idea:

  • Word lists — cover the Romanian column, say each English word aloud, then check. The Forms column is there for when you get to plural and verb tables.
  • Phrase sets — cover the Romanian, produce it from the English and the situation, then check the register note: half of phrase mistakes are register mistakes, not vocabulary mistakes.

Getting the paper out

Everything on this page has a Print this page button at the top. From the print dialog choose your printer or “Save as PDF” if you want a copy for later. Printing is per-browser, so save your PDF next to the ones from the app exports and you have a study stack that does not need wifi.
